Our Port Douglas Apartments Location

Port Douglas Apartments is ideally situated at the quiet end of Macrossan Street, just steps away from 4 Mile Beach to the east and numerous shops, services and world class restaurants to the west.

About Port Douglas

Port Douglas is located in Far North Queensland approximately half way between Brisbane and the Equator.

Port Douglas Village is a one hour drive north of Cairns International Airport (66km) and is bounded by the Coral Sea to the north, the Great Dividing Range to the south, 4 Mile Beach to the east and Dickinson Inlet to the west.

At 16.5 degrees south latitude we are the same distance from the equator as Tahiti and Vanuatu. With two UNESCO World Heritage sites, The Great Barrier Reef and Daintree Rainforest, on our doorstop Port Douglas is perfectly situated to access these natural wonders.

Macrossan Street and 4 Mile Beach

Macrossan Street is less than 1 km long and is the heart of our tropical village and contains almost any type of service you might require while on holiday. Aside from the shops and restaurants we are in close proximity to grocery stores, bottle shops, banks, car and bike rental, medical & dental clinics, massage, hair and beauty salons.

You can even find real estate agencies and solicitors if you decide you want to purchase your own place in the sun.

4 Mile Beach is 100m away, the Sunday Markets are 750 m away and the Reef Marina is less than 1 km from our front door. When you stay with us you’ll find everything you need just an easy stroll away from Port Douglas Apartments.

Weather and Climate

During the hottest months of summer the average high temperature is about 31°C (89°F) and the overnight low is about 24°C (75°F) although temperatures can reach 35°C (95°F) on occasion so it’s a good idea to keep your fluids up.

During July and August you can expect the high to range between 24°C (75°F) and 28°C (83°F) with the pre dawn hours dropping to about 17°C (63°F). Rainfall varies depending on the time of year.

The summer months of January, February and March tend to be the time when we get most of our rain for the year. Although the average rainfall in each of these months is more than 400mm (15 ¾ in) it comes in short, sharp bursts with sunshine quickly following. That’s why you’ll see so many locals walking around in bare feet, shirts dry quickly, socks don’t.

The period between May and October usually has little rainfall, between 25mm (1 in) and 75mm (3 in) per month, enough to keep things green without ruining your holiday. Being in the tropics the humidity tends to be high but, as Port Douglas is on the ocean, the breeze negates much its effect on how hot it actually feels to you.

Ocean temperatures also vary with the seasons, ranging between 22°-25°C (72-77°F) in winter to between 29°-30°C (84-86°F) during the summer.
